Kari Hartwig, Dr.PH.
Dr. Hartwig is currently evaluating a pilot project that funds small grants across the state of Connecticut promoting Healthy People 2010 objectives. Her public health experience includes more than a dozen years of research and practice related to international HIV/AIDS programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In addition, she has worked on a number of US community-based health promotion research interventions aimed at reducing ethnic and economic health disparities. Her research interests include examining organizational response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Tanzania, community-based mapping of HIV risk areas, using community-based health models to reduce health disparities in the U.S. and the use of gender analysis for planning and implementing health promotion programs.
