Technical Skills for Weight Management
Specific Aims/Objectives:
To compare two alternative behavioral interventions,
and determine their relative efficacy and cost-effectiveness
for achieving and maintaining weight loss. A loss of
10 pounds or of 5% of body weight, whichever is higher,
will be considered a meaningful weight loss over a one-year
period. Maintenance of weight loss will be considered
successful if at least 75% of a meaningful weight loss
is maintained at the end of year 2.
To pilot test an innovative obesity intervention that
could, if successful, be offered to Valley residents
to lower the prevalence of obesity.
Current Status:
The intervention began in August, 1999, we
have completed the 6 month follow-up visit and are approaching
the one year mark of the study.
